What Michigan expects
Michigan's parenting-time statute presumes a child's best interests are served by a strong relationship with both parents. Friend of the Court administers many county-level guidelines.

The honest trade-off
No long gap between seeing either parent, which is why it's the most common 50/50 schedule for little kids. The cost is exchanges — six a fortnight, roughly double most other schedules — so it only works when handoffs are calm and the drive is short.
