2-2-3 in Rhode Island
Two nights with one parent, two with the other, then a three-night weekend that alternates. Over two weeks it comes out even. In Rhode Island this is written into a Parenting Plan, where time with a child is called visitation.

What Rhode Island expects
Rhode Island courts decide custody on best interests; joint legal custody with one parent as placement parent is common.
Governing law: R.I. Gen. Laws § 15-5-16.
The honest trade-off
No long gap between seeing either parent, which is why it's the most common 50/50 schedule for little kids. The cost is exchanges — six a fortnight, roughly double most other schedules — so it only works when handoffs are calm and the drive is short.
